Professor Dharmapala Elected to Board of American Law and Economics Association

Professor Dhammika Dharmapala has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Law and Economics Association (ALEA). Founded in 1991, ALEA is the world’s premier organization dedicated to the advancement of economic understanding of law, public policy, and regulation.
An expert in the fields of tax policy, law and economics, and public economics, Professor Dharmapala recently completed a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Tax Association. He serves as editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journal International Tax and Public Finance, and on the Editorial Boards of the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the Review of Law and Economics.
The first annual meeting of ALEA occurred at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and its initial Board included Swanlund Chair Emeritus Tom Ulen, a pioneer in the law and economics movement.
