Transnational Criminality and European Human Rights LawProfessor Paulo Albuquerque is a former judge. He worked in criminal courts as well as civil courts during 14 years. He is currently a law professor at the Catholic University in Lisbon, Portugal. He has been a professor at the College of Law since 2006. Professor Albuquerque has been working for the Council of Europe and the European Union. Within the Council of Europe, he has worked as an expert in the third evaluation round of the GRECO (Group of States against corruption). His evaluation work is now under way in Belgium. Within the European Union, he is working in two different projects, one related to prison costs and reform and the other to victim support. This past year, Professor Albuquerque taught a course on "Markets, White Collar Crime and Regulation in Europe."
