Employment DiscriminationProfessor Eric D. Leach is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Illinois after serving as Associate Director for the Institute for Student and Graduate Support at Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California. Professor Leach also served the Institute as an Assistant Professor, teaching Introduction to Legal Analysis, preparing the course curriculum, hiring and managing administrative staff, bar exam preparation, first-year student counseling, and serving as Academic Probation Program Coordinator. Professor Leach taught Community Property, Computers and the Law, Internet Law, and Trade Secret Law at Whittier. He wrote "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Digital Performance Rights But Were Afraid to Ask" for the Journal of the Copyright Society of the USA (2000), receiving the Copyright Society of the USA Article of the Year Award. He also wrote "Safe Sound: Protecting Digital Sample-Based Products Through Copyright" for the Whittier Law Review (1998), and has written numerous articles on business entity formation, recording artist contracts, and online music distribution. Professor Leach earned his B.S. in Recording Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University in 1985 and his J.D. magna cum laude from Whittier Law School in 2000, serving as Executive Editor of the Whittier Law Review for two years. Prior to joining the Whittier faculty, Professor Leach practiced with Oswald & Yap, APC in Irvine, California and Goodman & Leach, LLP in Santa Ana, California, focusing his practice on business litigation. He is admitted to the California Bar.
