Convocation 2014

The 2014 College of Law Convocation will be held in the Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on May 17 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The College of Law will host an open house on May 16 and a reception on May 17 following the ceremony.

Parking is available in the Krannert Center garage, in metered spaces on nearby streets, and in permit lots (with the exception of 24-hour rental spaces) during commencement weekend. Please be sure to allow enough time to find parking since there are multiple convocation ceremonies on Saturday.

Open House

Graduates, family members, faculty, and honored guests are invited for an open house in the Peer and Sarah Pedersen Pavilion at the College of Law, 504 East Pennsylvania Avenue in Champaign on Friday, May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. No tickets are required, and the College of Law Bookstore will be open during this time for browsing and last minute gifts.


Graduates, family, friends, and honored guests are invited to join the College of Law on Saturday, May 17 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Peer and Sarah Pedersen Pavilion for a reception in honor of the Class of 2014. Please join us for this opportunity to celebrate and connect with faculty, family, and friends following the convocation ceremony. No tickets are required, and light refreshments will be served.

University-wide Commencement

Saturday, May17, 2014 at Memorial Stadium, from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m..

Graduates may choose to participate in a commencement ceremony with graduate and undergraduate students from various colleges throughout the university. More information about this ceremony, including ticketing and special accommodation for accessibility is available here.

Ticket Information

Students may pick-up Convocation tickets for family and friends at the Open House on Friday, May 16 from 5 - 7 p.m.  Up to five (5) tickets per student will be available during the Open House.  

  • If you require additional tickets or are unable to attend the Open House, tickets will also be available at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Ticket Office (located in the Lobby), on Saturday, May 17 beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Krannert is hosting several graduation ceremonies, so tickets will not be available prior to that time.

Please rest assured there will be plenty of tickets for all attendees.

Convocation Announcements

Personalized convocation announcements may be purchased through the Illini Union Bookstore or online through Herff Jones. For more information on announcements please visit the university-wide Commencement website.

Special Assistance

Accommodations, including special seating arrangements, are available at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts (KCPA) for guests who require special assistance.If you have guests with a physical condition such that they require accommodations, please be sure to contact Nicholas Puddicombe, KCPA Facility Manager at or (217) 333-9716. Individuals are strongly encouraged to contact Mr. Puddicombe at least two weeks prior to the Convocation date to ensure accommodations are available on the day of the ceremony.

Academic Apparel Distribution

Academic Attire will be distributed in the ARC, Multipurpose Room #5 at the following times:





Thursday, May 15

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, May 16

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 17

7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Sunday, May 18

7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Rental fees must be paid in full by cash or check, made payable to Herff Jones and have your name, address and phone number on the check, when you pick up the apparel. Payment cannot be made in advance.

You are strongly advised to pick up your academic attire before Saturday, May 17. Please be aware that your gown will be folded and may require steaming (do not iron).

You should present your receipt when picking up your academic attire.

If you cannot pick up your academic attire at one of the scheduled times, you may arrange for someone else to do so; that person should present your receipt and must pay the rental fee. Rental fees must be paid in full by cash or check only.

Academic Attire Returns

Following the campuswide Commencement ceremony and/or unit convocation, you must return your rented academic attire. Herff Jones representatives will accept rented academic attire at the ARC, Multipurpose Room #5 (for graduate students), at the following times:



Saturday, May 17

12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 18

10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Monday, May 19

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Graduates who do not return their rented attire by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 19, are responsible for returning the attire to the Illini Union Bookstore on Tuesday, May 20, through Friday, May 23, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Please note that Herff Jones will assess a late charge of $5 per day to all graduates returning rented attire to the Illini Union Bookstore after May 19.
