by Daniel Scheeringa January 27 2012, 13:55

All Illinois College of Law students in good standing are invited to submit a note to the Illinois Business Law Journal for possible publication in the Spring 2012 online issue.  Publication of a student’s note does NOT constitute an offer to join the staff of the Journal.  Publication is subject to the following rules:

1. Length: Notes should be approximately 15-30 pages of publishable text, with accompanying footnotes.

2. Margins: Margins should be from 1 to 1.5 inches all around.

3. Type: Text and footnotes should be in 12-point Times New Roman.  All pages should be numbered.

4. Citation: Notes should use footnotes rather than endnotes.  Footnotes should conform to the 19th edition of the Bluebook.

5. Contact Information: Applicants should include their name, phone number, email address and title of the note only on the cover page of their submission. Identifying information should not be placed anywhere else in the note.

6. Subject Matter: The note may cover any area of business law, including but not limited to: securities law, antitrust, intellectual property, international trade, sports and entertainment law, or any other aspect of business law.

Publication decisions will be made by the editorial board of the Journal based on (1) the depth of the research (2) the timeliness and importance of the issue (3) clarity and style of the writing (4) depth and creativity of the analysis and (5) citation style.

Notes should be submitted electronically to iblj@law.illinois.edu, as Word documents or PDF's no later than 5pm, March 23rd, 2012.
