Tuition Costs, Financial Aid, & Scholarships

Tuition Costs

Tuition and fees for the LL.M. program for the 2009-10 academic year are estimated to be $48,310.

The estimated living expenses (which include room and board, books and supplies, and personal expenses) are $16,248. The amount that the applicant will be required to verify for purposes of obtaining a visa is $64,558. Please note that tuition, fees, and expenses are subject to increase without notice.

Financial Aid

Please plan to apply early if you are seeking financial assistance. Students requiring financial aid are encouraged to seek funding from their home countries and other sources.

Although tuition and costs at the College of Law are significantly lower than at comparable private law schools in the United States, financial aid is available from the College of Law for students with outstanding records. The financial aid budget varies somewhat from year to year and special fellowships may specify a particular geographic area or a particular subject area expertise. Generally, however, financial awards are made solely on the basis of the applicant's academic record and financial need. Applicants who require financial assistance are encouraged to apply early and to seek alternative sources of funding. The number of applicants requesting financial assistance always exceeds available funds and the typical amount of an award is for part of tuition; living expenses are rarely covered. You may also want to browse the LL.M. Scholarship Awards information below.

Admissions decisions are made separately from decisions regarding financial aid and our budget does not allow us to provide assistance to every applicant. Therefore, you should be aware that an offer of admission does not guarantee that you will receive financial aid and that, if you do receive financial aid, it is not likely to cover all of your expenses. All admitted candidates must be prepared to demonstrate that they can fully support themselves during the period of their studies in order to obtain a visa. The University's Office of International Admissions will not process your application until the Declaration of Finances form and supporting documents have been received.

Financial Aid decisions are made after the application deadline, based upon the complete pool of applications. Applicants should not rely on outside employment for themselves or their spouse as a means of financing their studies since current immigration laws severely restrict the ability of foreign nationals to accept employment in the United States.
